Back in 1983 attempts were being made to quieten race engines. A process that could be done without sacrificing power would be ideal. Enter flowmaster exhaust. The flowmaster exhaust system set out to do just that. A flow master muffler seemed to achieve the impossible – a quieter vehicle without the loss of power.

Ray Flugger began the Flow Master company. He had over 45 years experience in exhaust design and began the company out of an 800 foot barn. His first flowmaster muffler became known in the racing world as the “suitcase muffler”. This was due to the fact that it was square shaped and had handles fitted to ease carrying.

Fast forward 26 years and the company now has a production facility that covers over 400,000 sq ft. and over 250 employees. The amount of technical equipment and professional knowledge is almost unrivalled in any other company. The ‘SuperFlow’ equipment can track the individual movement of an engine’s cam rotation right through to the induction tip of the exhaust. Whilst still measuring what everyone wants to know – the real BHP on the ground.

In addition Flowmaster also uses Spectrum Analyzers that effectively tune the sound that each flow master muffler has. This tune is for both sound and engine performance.
